What is the difference between a project and a study?

Projects are an overarching way to group studies that are related. One project can hold as many studies as necessary to help you stay organized and keep related subjects in one place.

Current study types are Boomerang.

For example: You have a project on mail ready cooking services, and you have to do a diary study (Journal) and multiple rounds of user testing (Boomerang). You name the project “Cooking” and put all the studies you conduct related to that project in “Cooking” to keep them all in one place.

What is my project dashboard?

The project dashboard is the first thing you see when you sign in to your youXtools account. This is where all your projects live. You can click on a project from this dashboard and it will take you to all the studies you are running in it.

What is a study dashboard?

Are studies anonymous?

In 2018, you will be able to cobrand studies with your company logo.

How long will my study data be stored?

You will start seeing responses for Express participants within the hour and all responses completed within 24 hours of your study launching.

How long does it take to recruit Premium participants?

We require up to 3 business days to recruit Premium participants.

What makes a participant Premium?

Our researchers review videos and feedback given by participants and compiled a list of the best-of-the-best. Participants who are categorized as Premium have proven to be high quality participants, giving insightful feedback. We stand behind these participants and will find another to take their place if they don’t meet your expectations.

Note: This does not mean you won’t get meaningful, actionable feedback from Express participants. It just means that Premium participants meet your recruitment requirements and have proven they will always give it their all.

Can I review the Premium participants youXtools recruits before I launch my study?

The current version of youXtools does not support this feature. We know how valuable and helpful this is and you should expect this feature in 2018.

What do I do if I am not satisfied with my participant’s response?

We believe in providing you with insightful feedback. If you are unsatisfied with a participant’s response let us know and we will try to make it right.

Can I compensate participants?

Currently, when using “My Own” participants you are not able to compensate them within youXtools. This feature will be available in 2018. When selecting “Express” or “Premium” participants, we will handle all recruiting and compensation for you.

Will the participant see my company name when testing?

Company identity will remain anonymous unless you choose to have your logo cobranded on the study or type your company name into any of the text boxes when you create a study.

You cannot cobrand a study right now but will be available in 2018.

What do I call people testing my product?

Users who are testing your product are called participants.

Why aren’t Express participants available for a Journal Study?

Express participants are specifically used for quick research sessions like Boomerang. A Journal study requires participants to give feedback over multiple days. Premium participants are guaranteed to stay active in the Journal study and give meaningful feedback.

PROJECT SET-UP

Am I able to customize prompts and tasks for each study?

Absolutely! youXtools is all about doing UX research your way. Completely customize introductions, tasks you want completed and follow up questions.

What happens if I don’t write in my own text?

You will not be able to move on to next steps for set-up until you enter in text for things like “tasks”. When you are going through the set-up you will know what areas require you to fill in text.

If you do not enter any text information for the “Introduction” area, we will send participants a generic message welcoming them to the study. If there are specifics your participant needs to know before starting the study, make sure to fill out this area.

What is Emotion Tracking?

Emotion Tracking is a reporting feature for a Journal study that lets you clearly see how people felt throughout the research journey. Participants self-report how they are feeling throughout the study, and you will be able to visually see how they felt at each recorded moment.

If you want your reporting page to have visual graphics and breakdowns, you must turn on this feature.

It is free for a limited time.

What is the youXscore?

The youXscore is a reporting feature for Boomerang and Comparison studies that turn hours of videos into clear, digestible data. It generates an overall score for a user’s entire experience as they interacted with your product. Immediately see the exact points of frustration and get a task by task breakdown to show how each performed.

If you want your reporting page to have visual graphics and breakdowns, you must turn on this feature.

It is free for a limited time.

If I want to run a study in a different language, will text automatically change to that language?

If you want to run a study in a different language, any word that you yourself do not type in will automatically be changed to the language you choose. These are things like the youXscore.

We do NOT automatically change the text you enter. The words you type into text boxes for introductions, tasks and follow-up questions must be typed in the language you want them sent as.

All text that you see on your youXtools account and set-up study pages will remain in English.

What languages can I run my study in?

Studies can be run in 7 different languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Swedish. More languages will be introduced in 2018.

Email us at feedback@youXtools.com to let us know what languages you want next.

What is AMI?

AMI stands for Autonomous Moderator Interface, and she is an artificially intelligent virtual moderator for remote usability tests. AMI prompts participants to think deeper and give richer feedback by recognizing when participants have fluctuations in ratings and time spent on tasks.

Why doesn’t my reporting page have the graphic reporting that I saw in examples?

To have graphics on your reporting page, you must choose to include the youXscore or Emotion Tracking when you are creating a study. These features prompt the participant to answer a few more questions that allow us to automatically generate the visuals on the reporting page.

The youXscore and Emotion Tracking are FREE for a limited time. You should include them in every study because they give you actionable insights fast!

Can I add graphics after the fact?

Unfortunately, if you have already started a study without choosing to include youXscore and Emotion Tracking, we will not be able to add these reporting features to the study.

How do I share my report?

Once you launch your study, go to the bottom of the Report Tab on your Study Dashboard. There is a link with a unique log in and password that you can share with others to give them access to the reporting page.

When I share my report, how much access do the people I share it with have?

They will only be able to see the study’s reporting page. The link, log in and password you share with them will not give them access to other parts of the study or any projects.

On my project dashboard, what do the statuses Incomplete, Ready, Complete and Active mean?

Incomplete - There are still set-up steps you need to finish before you can launch your study.

Ready - You have completed all the set-up steps for your study and can launch whenever you are ready to start.

Active - The study has launched but there are still participants that need to give feedback.

Complete - All of your participants have responded and you can see the results on the reporting page.

How long is a Boomerang study?

Boomerang studies will run for about 15 minutes.

How long is a Journal study?

A Journal study lasts for 7 days. If you want to run a Journal study for longer it will be an additional cost. Cost varies depending on the participant type.

My Own participants - Run a study for 7 days with unlimited people for $100/100€ or up to 1 month for $200/200€.
